Frequently Asked Questions

Great! You’ll need to bring:
Fabric of your choice (or you can purchase some here from our hand-picked range).
A basic sewing kit – tape measure, scissors, pins, needles and thread.
Invisible zip (or this can be purchased here).
A notebook and a pencil.

We use Janome machines with speed control. We find that everyone gets on very well with them, but you are of course welcome to bring your own machine if you wish.

Lunch is not included in the workshops, so please bring a packed lunch, pop to Tesco or the Co-op, or treat yourself to a freshly baked sarnie from Town Mill Bakery or The Whole Hog. We don’t recommend sewing on an empty stomach!

Luckily Lyme Regis is full of lovely hotels, B&Bs, campsites and guesthouses, so finding a place to stay during your sewing retreat shouldn’t be too tricky. Check out the official Lyme Regis website here for a list of recommendations.

There is parking available right next to the studio, but be warned: it’s a little pricey. For a cheaper option, try the Holmbush car park at the top of town.

As there are usually only 6 places available for each course, we recommend booking as far in advance as possible! If you would like to book ahead further than the dates shown on the website, contact Caroline at or give her a call on 07974489121 to discuss dates.

We find sewing is thirsty work, so real coffee, Dorset Clipper tea and the odd sneaky biscuit are all provided throughout the day to keep you in tip top form. If you’re really lucky, you might get a slice of Dorset apple cake, too.

Every participant on the sewing workshops and courses gets a pattern of their choice to take home and make again.

We deliberately keep our group numbers small, as we pride ourselves on nurturing and guiding all of our students of varying abilities, from fresh faced beginners to the more confident sewist. This means that your group can choose any course you fancy, safe in the knowledge that we will tailor your individual activities to a level suited to your personal level of experience.

We recommend children age 7 and upwards for the Little People Parties.

We do aim to provide a seamless service when it comes to our products and postage and packing systems, but if you do experience any problems please accept our apologies and contact with the details and we’ll do our very best to sort it out.

Oh dear! Don’t worry; it can happen to the best of us. We’re currently working on video tips and tutorials, but in the meantime keep calm and contact Caroline, and she’ll try and get you back on track.
